History of Faizabad Court It is a part of Avadh. During the period of Asaf-id-daula, the judicial history of Faizabad centered on the Nazims of Sultanpur. Chakledars collected revenue and each pargana was in the charge of a Faujdar who was assisted by a Dewan, a qanoongo and other Subordinate officials.
In 1858, the British set about the task of establishing their own system of administration in the lines which were already in force in the province. The Commissioner of the Division was the Chief of Revenue, Police and Judicial Authority. In 1871, the Oudh Civil Courts Act was passed and the Courts were reorganized.
In 1879, the Civil Courts were separated from the Revenue and Criminal Courts. Regular Courts of Munsiffs, Subordinate Judges and District Judges were established.
