Fatehpur district for the purpose administration of justice was under the District & Session Courts,Kanpur. The records also reveal that it was on 18 December ,1926 that a new judgeship was created for Fatehpur. Subsequently under the provisions of different legislative enactments like the Guardian & Wards ct,1890; Indian Succession Act 1925, necessary judicial power were extended to the Fatehpur Judgeship. Finally through notification no. 420/7-ka-2-507/56 dated 18.10.1967 a separate Sessions Division was created for Fatehpur . In furtherance of the notification of October 18,1967 vide notification on December 08,1967 Sri Mirza Mohammad Murtaza Hussain was appointed as the first District Judge of Fatehpur. it appears that earlier a judicial officer designated as Civil & Session Judge was carrying out the Judicial functions at Fatehpur. Therefore e in all probability before the creation of Session Judge, Fatehpur which post was kept in abeyance after the taking over of charge by the District Judge,Fatehpur.
From the record of previous judgments are available , it can be said for sure , that a court of the Munsif , Fathpur was functional in the year 1858, as also at the time when India won independence in the year 1947.
