Activities of DLSA, Jalpaiguri

 

 

Office of DLSA, Jalpaiguri is situated at the Nawabbari Court complex of Jalpaiguri town. Activities of DLSA, Jalpaiguri relates to the field of providing legal aid to the poor and needy persons of the district. Any person can approach before the Secretary, D.L.S.A. seeking legal aid. All women are entitled to get free legal aid from D.L.S.A., Jalpaiguri irrespective of her income, but, in case of a male, he has to fulfil certain criteria for being entitled to get legal aid. However, legal advice will be provided to everyone free of cost.

 

Apart from providing legal aid, D.L.S.A., Jalpaiguri also organizes legal awareness camps and seminars at diferent parts of Jalpaiguri District to make the people aware of their rights and also about the new legislations and changes in law. Any institution can approach before D.L.S.A., Jalpaiguri for organizing awareness camps in their locality.

 

Legal Clinics have been opened at different parts of the District to provide quality legal service to all the people of the District free of cost. Such clinics are manned by trained Para Legal Volunteers who provide service to all the people whoever requires their assistance.

 

Secretary D.L.S.A., Jalpaiguri visits different juvenile and shelter homes as well as correctional homes to monitor their functioning and receives complaints from different corners about violation of legal rights of the peoples of the District. Disputes are also settled at pre-litigation level by holding discussion in the chamber of the Secretary, D.L.S.A., Jalpaiguri.

 

Special attentions are paid regarding problems faced by senior citizens and children.
